ok, so it’s no secret that i like to call b*!# s!%@ on the folks who want to redistribute wealth via global warming and green theory. but come on . . . at what point is enough, enough? when are logical, reasonable folks going to realize that the wool is being pulled over our eyes. according to an australian newspaper article, entitled “Human Greed Takes Lion’s Share of Solar Energy,” humans are using too much . . . (drum roll please) . . . SUN. according to the article, “The human dominance of this natural resource is affecting other species, reducing the amount of energy available to them by almost 10 per cent, scientists report.” please, God, somebody put me out of my misery with the environmental movement already. or, at the very least, let this be the work of some brilliantly satirical modern day john swift. as for myself, i’m going to oil up like a greased pig and go cut the grass. during the middle of the day. with my gasoline powered yard implements.

Dude, you are so right. More and more evidence demonstrates that we are having so little affect on the climate, it's not funny.

these last three posts are great, e. couldn't agree more. i avoided the "concert for a climate in crisis" like the plague today. and then i got curious enough to watch five minutes, and the band of the moment was linkin park. it was five minutes i'll never get back.
msnbc showed a clip from ann curry's interview with bloomberg. she totally called him on it when he tried to say that NYC would quickly save some drastic amount of money if all taxis were changed to hybrid cars. made it sound like it would be overnight. ann at least got him to admit it would be 3-5 years before the savings showed up, but i bet it would be even longer. he said he was looking for ways to be green that will save people some money because that is the only way they will do it. well, changing out the lightbulbs in your house to be the new kind will save you money in the long run, but the average joe doesn't want to pay $8 for a three-pack of lightbulbs. i'm all for it, but most folks aren't going to do it. even if they watched the concert today.
i get so sick of celebrities who have private jets, 3 suvs, or mansions in nashville that use more electricity in a month than the average joe uses in a year telling us how important it is to be "green." am i the only one who thinks they have zero credibility?
thanks for the post, laura. yeah the celebs who i really gotta give props to are those who actually do put their money where their mouths are; a few who come to mind are leo decaprio and ed beagly jr. and again, i'm with these guys on the whole "do what you can when you can for cleaner air and water" mantra. what i'm not on board for is the arrogance that assumes 1) humans are powerful enough to reverse any course mother earth charts for herself, and 2) that we can redistribute wealth via green theory.
looking forward to leo's documentary..saw the trailor and it looks good. I know from my own ignorance I probably sometimes add to the problem. I figure I can learn from everyone whether they be extremist or not.
by the way, that guy in your lawnmower ad - its cole. he has a hat just like that, which i am SURE he wears when he mows.
